Sketches to Sculptures: Rendered Reality, Sixty Years with Marshall M. Fredericks is an exhibition of small sculptures and related drawings and sketches that showcases the creative process of Fredericks both as designer and sculptor. From simple pencil sketches to presentation drawings, the creative mind of Fredericks is on display as he transforms two-dimensional ideas on paper into three-dimensional sculptures. This exhibition is comprised of four genres that represent most of Fredericks’ work: architectural, commemorative, spiritual and whimsical. The exhibition was organized from the collections of the Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum at Saginaw Valley State University.

This unique exhibition represents a 60-year body of work by Marshall M. Fredericks (1908-1998), a 20th century traditional figurative sculptor whose sculptures are located in California, Florida, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Nebraska, Nevada, New York, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Washington, DC, Wisconsin, Denmark, England, Freeport Grand Bahama Island, Japan, Norway and Sweden.

Off Kilter, On Point Art of the 1960 from the Collections at Colorado State University

Art from the 1960s represents one of the great strengths of the Gregory Allicar Museum of Art at Colorado State University. This exhibition offers an engaging survey of art of the decade, demonstrating both the disruption and the continuity present in the major styles and strategies at play, with late abstract expressionist paintings and Neo-Dada collage giving way to Color Field painting, shaped canvases, Minimalism, Light & Space, kinetic art, Op Art, and Pop, with nods to performance art and land art. Artworks and didactic texts look to exemplify but also complicate the existing history of this dynamic era.
