Our Mission…
Advancing Marshall Fredericks’s Legacy

Our Mission (what we do and why we do it) is to embrace and advance Marshall Fredericks’s legacy as articulated in his credo: “[art has] real meaning for other people, many people, and might in some way encourage, inspire, or give them happiness.”

Mission Statement
The mission of the Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum is to celebrate the artistic legacy of Marshall M. Fredericks through collecting, preserving, presenting, and interpreting his life’s work for the educational and cultural enrichment of the broadest possible audience. Through the Marshall Fredericks objects collection and archives, temporary exhibitions, publications, and education programs, the Museum contributes to scholarly discourse and serves diverse audiences.

Our Vision…
Inspiring and Uniting People Through Art

  • MFSM is solidly on a path to being an authentically diverse and inclusive organization (using the Of/By/For All approach and tools, as well at The Empathetic Museum metrics for developing many of our objectives, strategies, and tactics).
  • MFSM is on track to being in sound financial condition and has documented plans for how to become financially sustainable.
  • MFSM has initiated connections with diverse communities so that we can continue to build strong relationships, partnerships, and pathways for collaborations through a “think global, start local” approach.
  • MFSM has a solid strategy for preserving the MF legacy as well as actionable plans for advancing that legacy including but not limited to the “think global, start local” approach.
  • MFSM has both staff and board of advisors that are fully engaged in the Museum’s work who actively work to continually develop our skills and understandings of the field and the environment in which we work.
